A Study on –
Identification & Evaluation of Appropriate
Technology for Economic & Ecological Conversion
of Bio-degradable waste in Mumbai at the ward
level
MEDC has completed a Study on Identification
and Evaluation of suitable technology for
ecological and economical conversion of
Municipal solid waste in Mumbai at the ward
level. The Civil and Environment Engineering
Dept. of VJTI was associated with MEDC, for
carrying out the technical evaluation of the
existing biomethanation plants installed in
Mumbai and other locations and for suggesting
suitable technical parameters for setting up
biomethanation plants for processing the
biodegradable component of Municipal solid waste
generated in a ward in Mumbai. Wards A,B,C and D
from Zone-I were selected for detailed analysis
of collection and disposal of Municipal Solid
Waste generated in these wards.

Project on
‘Economic Growth in MMR’ :
As a part of the ‘Mumbai Transformation’ agenda,
the Mumbai Transformation Support Unit (MTSU) is
currently in the process of preparing a
Business-Plan for MMR, incorporating the inputs
from the stakeholders of the key business
sectors, driving the Economic Growth of MMR.
MEDC was assigned the task of facilitating the
Industry-Government interface and preparing a
detailed Project Report, based on the inputs of
experts from various sectors.
A Core Group was formed to interact with the
sector-specific stakeholders, and to facilitate
the preparation of the final Report of
Recommendations.
