Marico Ltd., Jalgaon

 


In response to the initiative taken by the MEDC-IEPC and based on the feedback received from the first program held from 5th to 7th December 2005, Marico Limited, Jalgaon plant organized a three days Faculty Training Program from 23rd to 25th February 2006. This was the second program organised at Marico Jalgaon.

Marico is a leading Indian Group with Consumer Products & Services in the Beauty and Wellness space.

Marico’s products and Services in Hair care, Skin Are and Health Foods during 2004-05 generated a turnover of about Rs. 10 Billion (USD 230 Million) from 12 brands – Parachute, Saffola, Sweekar, Hair & Care, Shanti, Mediker, Oil of Malabar, Meal Maker, Revive, Sil, Kaya and Sundari.

MEDC had requested Marico to impart application-oriented training in the area of specialization to the faculty members of various Engineering Colleges and Polytechnics in Maharashtra. The objective of the training program was to make the faculty appreciate and witness the various processes used in the plant.

The program started with a brief about Jalgaon operations. The sessions covered the Unit Processes involved in Refining of Oil, Automation used in plant and various developmental Processes in the plant. An Overview was given on Total Productive Maintenance, Condition Monitoring Systems, Education & Training Pillar activities, Safety Health and Environment (SHE) Pillar activities. Group was given a opportunity to know about the Six Sigma and Q-Cert. Systems implementation apart from various other initiatives in the plant.

The objective of the program was to make the faculty familiar with the skill sets expected from the Engineering students when the join the company. The faculty consisted of Mr. Abhishek Kundu, Gajanan Patil, Mallikarjun Patil, Ravindra Chopade, Shrikrishna Wani, Naresh Gehlaud and Padmanabh Maydeo.

During the feedback session organised at the end of program, the faculty appreciated the contents of the program and expressed their gratitude towards Marico Limited for their commitment towards this initiative and in organising the program.

Marico has promised to continue hosting such programs as it sees them as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility towards the generations to come.





In response to the initiative taken by Maharashtra Economic Development Council (MEDC) Industry Education Partnership Cell to improve the quality of training inputs in Engineering Colleges / Polytechnics, Marico Industries organized a 3-day Faculty Training Programme from 5th December to 7th December 2005.

Marico's products and Services in Hair care, Skin Care and Healthy Foods during 2004-05 generated a Turnover of about Rs.10 billion (USD 230 Million) from 12 brands - Parachute, Saffola, Sweekar, Hair & Care, Shanti, Mediker, Oil of Malabar, Mealmaker, Sil, Revive, Kaya and Sundari.

MEDC had requested Marico Industries to impart application-oriented training in their area of specialization to the faculty members of the engineering colleges and Polytechnics in Maharashtra. The objective of the programme was to make participants understand the working principles, construction & applications of Products and give them opportunity to witness typical manufacturing processes. One of the aims was also to let the institutes know what the industry expects from these students when they join. This was a critical student development input to the faculty. An interactive session on “Institute-Industry Education Gap Analysis” was also arranged by Mr. Nirmal Nigwekar (MEDC IEPC-Project Co-ordinator).

The programme was highly appreciated by all the Faculty Members.

During the feedback session, faculty members expressed satisfaction and gratitude to Marcio Industries Ltd. for their commitment to the initiative and for extending their support in organizing such a wonderful training programme.

IEPC programme was carried out under the instructions of Mr. Jitendra Mahajan (Works Head - Jalgaon Plant) and other Top Management People from the Mumbai head office viz. Mr. Pankaj Bhargava (Chief-HR), Mr. V. S. Vasan (Head Manufacturing).

Marico has promised all the Professors that they will do the similar programme in the near future. The management of Marico feels that this kind of a programme is their corporate social responsibility for the generations to come.
