Ghatge Patil Industries Ltd., Kolhapur

Industry Education Partnership Programme (IEPP) Training Program initiated by the MEDC jointly with MSBTE and DTE, has been receiving excellent response from industries as well as from Engineering and Polytechnic colleges. So far the IEPP has organised Eighty-Seven training programmes and covered 4886 faculty members from Polytechnic and Engineering Colleges in Maharashtra. Some of industries covered were M&M, Reliance Infocom, HLL, HCC, Godrej, German Remedies, Siemens, HAL, IIDM, L&T, Tata Power, HPCL, Compton Greaves, Gujarat Ambuja Cement, Camlin etc. in Maharashtra, Goa and Gujarat State. MEDC also wishes to take this programme to other States of our country too.

As a continuation of the program, MEDC has organized training programme at ‘Ghatge-Patil Industries, Kolhapur from 3rd January to 5th January 2007.

Mr. Kiran Patil, Jt. Managing Director, Mr. B.P. Shete, Asst. Vice-President (HRD), Mr. G. A. Jadhav, Asst. Manager (HRD) and Mr. Sanjay Patil, Training Officer, Ghatge Patil Industries, were the main persons involved in organizing this programme.

On behalf of MEDC, Mr. Suresh Ghorpade, Business Development Executive, and Mr. Yogesh Ahire, Executive Assistant, attended the program.

Fourteen faculty members, (List given in the box below) from polytechnic & engineering colleges from all over Maharashtra attended the program. They were extremely happy about this activity. They appreciated the efforts being taken by MEDC in bringing the industry – institutions closer.

On the Inaugural day, Mr. B.P. Shete, Asst. Vice-President (HRD), Ghatge Patil Industries welcomed all the participants with flowers and requested all faculty members to introduce themselves and to tell about their area of interest in the training program. Mr. Sanjay Patil, Training Officer of Ghatge Patil Industries made a brief presentation about the Products, Mfrs. Systems and Mktg. Systems and other activities of the Ghatge Patil Industries.

Mr. Suresh Ghorpade, Business Development Executive briefed the participants about the objective of the program. He said that in the present era of globalization, there is urgent need to have active interaction between industry and institution, which would result in bridging the gap between the industry and institutions. Mr. M.N. Chaini, than President, MEDC and Mr. B.P. Tale, Director, MSBTE mooted the idea of setting up of IEPP Cell within MEDC Mr. Ghorpade said. He appealed the faculty members to take maximum advantage of the program, which will help him for updating their knowledge for reaching out to students. On MEDC and MSBTE, he gratefully expressed thanks to the management of Ghatge-Patil Industries, particularly to Mr. Kiran Patil, Jt. Managing Director and Mr. B.P. Shete, Asst. Vice-President (HRD), for giving us an opportunity to organise this training programme in their plant.

In these three days programme the faculty members received the knowledge about various systems like HRD, HR practices, Industrial Safety, Environment Management System, Market : Product, Brand, Potential, Growth & Competition, Inventory, Logistic & Supply Chain Management, Electrical & Control, Energy Management, Core Shop Production and Process, Quality Control Foundry : Inspection of Raw Material, Sampling Technique, actual production system. At the end of the training programme all faculty members expressed their satisfaction for attending such training programme.
