Camlin Limited, Mumbai
For
the first time in India Maharashtra Economic Development
Council’s (MEDC) Industry Education cell has
taken initiative to improve the quality of training inputs
in Engineering Collages and Polytechnics by imparting
on site training, factory visits and on hand feel of industry
working to faculties. Also the aim was faculties to know
what industry expects from students passing out from their
institutes. In response to above Camlin Ltd. has organized
a 3 days faculty-training programme at their Tarapur works
on 14th February to 16th February 2006.
Camlin
Ltd is a leading manufacturing company in stationery
products, Scholastic arts, fine arts and hobby products
in India and also manufactures fine chemicals and pharmaceutical
products. Camlin is biggest exporter in food grade antioxidants
to U.S. and 35 various countries. Camlin ranks 2nd in
world in this segment of product that is food grade antioxidants.
On
request of MEDC to impart application oriented training
to faculties from Engineering and polytechnic Colleges,
Camlin has structured the training programme so that participants
understand how the products processes are conceived and
how the products are designed, its actual manufacturing,
applications, logistics of distribution, after sales services,
safety in factory, quality, waste management and overall
working of manufacturing unit. Stress was also given on
today’s global market conditions and customer expectations.
This has given a very good overview of industry working
and opportunity to faculties to observe typical manufacturing
process and various unit operations from very close.

An
interactive session was also arranged by Mr.Nirmal Nigwekar
(MEDC-IEPC-Project co-ordinator) on “Institute Industry
Education Gap Analysis”. The programme was highly appreciated
by all faculty members. During feed back session members
expressed immense satisfaction and gratitude for such
an exhaustive and informative training programme arranged
by Camlin Ltd.
IEPC
programme was carried out under the guidance of Mr.Subhash
Dandekar (Chairman Emeritus camlin and Past President
of MEDC) by Mr.Ranjan Gotey (V.P. Manuf.), Dr.M.N.Rajadhaksha
(V.P.-Fine Chemicals), Dr.Shirvaikar (G.M. Tech- Fine
Chemicals) along with Mr.M.J. Salunkhe (G.M.-Tech), and
all top management people from Tarapur Works.
