Education Partnership Cell (IEPC)"
Introduction
Today, Industry Educational Institute linkage has become a
prominent issue in the agenda of higher education policy making.
Such interactions provide opportunities :
• To bring Industry & Educational Institute together
• To familiarize faculty and students with the state of
the art technology & management systems
• Enhancement of the awareness of the students about the
challenges in Industry
• Improved Training and Employment prospects for the students.
Genesis of IEPP :
• To initiate the process of better Industry-Institute networking,
the President of MEDC, mooted the idea of forming a PERMANENT
CELL within MEDC.
• Both DTE and MSBTE have decided to give active support
& full co-operation to Industry-Education Partnership
Cell.
• The Cell will include representatives from Business &
Industry, Academic Institutions, Development Commissioner
– Industry, Government Of Maharashtra and Government Officials
from Higher / Technical Education.
Vision
The Programme will contribute to making tomorrow’s students
and youth “employable” in the modern economy. It will inculcate
in the youth, the spirit of entrepreneurship and foster the
value of “Work is Worship”.
Mission
The Mission of IEPP is :
• Seamless transfer of faculty between Industry and Educational
Institutions
• Visit / Training of students to the Industry, to gain
useful experience.
• Up-gradation of Syllabi of Educational Institutions in
accordance with Industry requirements
• Collaborative Research and Development (R&D) possibilities
in product & process development and innovation.
Objectives
• Building of a comprehensive Data Bank of persons from
industry, willing and able to contribute their time and
knowledge to educational institutions on a committed and
sustained basis.
• Conducting of Training programmes for Teaching Faculty
in Industry, on a regular basis.
• Inviting Industry Experts to interact with the students
• Arranging students’ visits to Industries (including short
- term training of students in Industry).
• Facilitating necessary changes in curriculum to suit the
modern day needs and demand of the business and industry.
• The Cell would also look into the possibilities of Industry
Institute partnership in Research & Development Activities
and Consultancy work.
Progress of IEPP
• Industry Education Partnership Programme (IEPP) Training
Program has been receiving excellent response from industries
as well as from Engineering and Polytechnic colleges. So far
the IEPC has completed Ninety training programmes and covered
4950 faculty members from Polytechnic and Engineering Colleges.
Some of industries covered were M&M, Reliance Infocom,
HLL, HCC, Godrej, German Remedies, Siemens, HAL, IIDM, L&T,
Tata Power, HPCL, Compton Greaves, Gujarat Ambuja Cement,
Camlin etc. in Maharashtra, Goa and Gujarat State. MEDC also
wishes to take this programme to other States of our country
too.
